Val Comelico

If you want to visit an incredibly diverse and unspoilt corner of Italy and long to escape the maddening crowds, Val Comelico is the ideal place for your holiday.
Val Comelico is set in the heart of the Italian Dolomites, in the Veneto Region, and in the province of Belluno. Even though it borders with the German speaking South Tyrol area it has a very distinct cultural Italian identity which is also evident in the local dialect called “Ladino” (Ladin)
Located just 1 ½ hour’s drive from Venice, 1 hour’s drive from the famous Tre Cime of Lavaredo (The Three Peaks), and a short drive to Pieve di Cadore (Titian’s birthplace) and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
This valley is made up of many villages: Candide, Casamazzagno, Dosoledo, Padola, Santo Stefano di Cadore (the biggest), San Pietro di Cadore, San Nicolò di Comelico, and Danta di Cadore.
The soaring spires of the Dolomites make up a stunningly beautiful back-drop for the quaint villages and green pastures of this hidden “gem”, surprisingly yet to be discovered by the international traveller.
Val Comelico offers great skiing, the ski slopes reach an altitude of 2000 metres and there are over 30km of cross-country trails set among fir trees and picturesque hay-barns. The views will leave you breathless.
The golden and grey limestone towers of the Dolomites are a magnet for photographers, both amateur and professional. Amazing sunsets and dawns in brilliant pinks and whites offer superb photo opportunities at every season.
Skiers, walkers, rock-climbers, mountaineers, mountain bikers, leisure lovers and artists will fall in love with this place. Nature lovers will be fascinated by the walking trails ranging from easy gentle strolls through woods to longer distance treks and for the more adventurous, the thrills of scaling remote peaks.
Visitors interested in cultural activities will not be disappointed either. The area has a fine range of artist treasures, both in little mountain churches and museums where you can discover traditions and customs of the local people.
Val Comelico combines all the essentials of an invigorating, peaceful, relaxing and unforgettable holiday.
We look forward to seeing you soon !
