The path goes through pretty hamlets and villages scattered around the twin valleys, meandering here and there, along tracks and paths which are quite easy to follow. The ideal starting point is Danta di Cadore, located in a magnificent panoramic position on the wild Brentòni range. The trail then pushes eastwards towards Sappada, an antique trail connecting the Comelico and the Carnia area, and continuing counter-clockwise until it reaches Val Visdende. To the North, the Cresta Carnica marks the border with Austria. e adesso????? Un indicazione più preciso non si capisce, arriviamo subito in Comelico inferiore!!!,Suggerisco………Val Visdende is a beautiful remote valley set amongst fragrant fir forests and lush green pastures with extrodinary views of the Dolomites Non so adesso se si scendeYou follow the trail which descends towards the Lower Comelico Valley.
Lower Comèlico, which makes up the villages of Santo Stefano and San Pietro: ancient, harsh lands, where religion and the antique institutions called “Le Regole” (literally called the “Rules”) have preserved the Ladin culture of the people. “La Regola” is an institution which still today manages and preserves collective forests and pasturelands. Each village has its own “Regola” with board members and a president.
Lastly, the trail climbs back to Upper Comèlico, made up of four villages Candìde, Casamazzàgno, Dosolédo and Pàdola. The Dolomite peaks tower above you - some higher than 3,000 meters, soaring to the sky. These mountains were the backdrop to extremely bloody clashes in World War I, and of many mountaineering feats since then.
